music from a CD onto iphone

I have downloaded a CD to iTunes and when I try to drag and drop it to my iPhone, it won't let it "drop".

See Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using iTunes on your computer - Apple Support. Are you trying to manage content from a new computer or do you have iCloud Music Library as part of Apple Music or iTunes Match?
