With family sharing do you need to share more then your then just storage?

I only use a small amount of my storage (250GB out of 2TB) and would like to share with another family member. I noticed that it also lets you share apps, music, movies, etc, etc. There is a lot of that kind of thing I would not want to share with family can I just share storage and pick which other parts I want to share or perhaps share nothing with them at all? (other then sharing storage)

See Share an iCloud storage plan with your family - Apple Support and Share App Store, iTunes Store, and Apple Books purchases with Family Sharing - Apple Support. The latter would seem to imply that you can set up Family Sharing without sharing purchases or using a shared payment method. I don't know it this is actually the case. Each user does get some degree of control over what types of purchases are shared when sharing is enabled.

This sentence seems to indicate it -

"Content can be hidden by family members; hidden content is not available for download. Content downloaded from family members or acquired via redemption codes is not subject to Ask to Buy."

Good it would be nice if they showed a screen shot of what that looked like but I am sure someone has made a video showing this.

Looking at Settings > Apple ID > Family Sharing I see a bunch of options, namely; purchase sharing, iCloud storage, location sharing, screen time, Apple Music, TV channels, and Apple Arcade. I'm sure there used to be options to select which types of purchases were shared, e.g. you could treat say apps and music differently, but it seems not to be the case now if it ever was.
