If your Apple Watch Series 4 was upgrade to watchOS 6, then you cannot pair it with your iPhone 6, as watchOS 6 requires iOS 13 and the iPhone 6 will not upgrade to iOS 13.

If you just purchased the Apple Watch, see if you can return it (if you just got it, I'm assuming it was a used model).

If this is your own Apple Watch that you managed to get upgraded to watchOS 6, then your options are

  • Not use it
  • Get a newer iPhone (a used 6s would be the least expensive option)
  • Sell your Apple Watch to someone that has an iPhone 6s or newer.
