can my late 09 mac be updated from yosemite?

I have a late 2009 mac with Yosemite on it. Can I possibly update or is this the last OS I can have?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and depending on which Mac model you have, download El Capitan or High Sierra from the Mac App Store.
