Do I need to back up my data if I already migrated all to my new phone?

Personally I would. Your new phone could be lost, stolen, broken at any time and having a backup of the data on it could be important to you.

So the migrated data on my new phone will not be erased when I reset my old iphone is that right?
That is correct. I would still back up the new phone.
