Upgrade affects ability to use software?

If I upgrade my iMac to a 64 bit app from a 32 bit app do I have to rent the new Adobe Software as opposed to using what I purchased long ago? If I don't allow the upgrade can I keep using my old Adobe and Microsoft software?

iMac 27", macOS 10.13

Likely you'll have to rent new SW if your going to Catalina/10.15... I'd avoid the upgrade, Catalina isn't finished anyway.

For the MS SW there may be a free option..

Look into the Free LibreOffice, it handles MS Office files…
