Brother Control Center update

I followed the instructions on the Brother website to the hilt. I downloaded the version for OS 15 for both the printer and the scanner. I restarted the Mac. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. I still can't scan a doc into the computer. Now what? Do I have to buy an entire new printer/scanner?

I'm not sure what you downloaded but see the following from https://support.brother.com/g/s/id/os/macintosh.html

The Brother ControlCenter2 is not supported by macOS v10.15.

Use the Brother iPrint&Scan as an alternative function.

You can download Brother iPrint&Scan from the Mac App Store but before you do you may want to see if it is compatible with your Brother device. You can use the "Click here to display all models covered by this answer." link in the following to do that: https://help.brother-usa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/150551/~/download-and-install-brother-iprint%26scan---windows-or-macintosh-computer

Note that neither Control Center nor iPrint&Scan are needed to use a Brother printer/scanner on a Mac. If Brother does provide a scanner driver you should be able to scan by using Image Capture.

You can use the bottom section of the following link to find your printer/scanner model and download the necessary drivers.

Go to https://www.hamrick.com/reg.html and purchase their 64bit drivers for your Brother Printer after checking their listings of Brother Printers available for purchase. Hope that this helps in some way for you. As for myself, I am going to wait before upgrading to current iMac system software. VueScan has my print drivers and updates for my MFC9840-CDW color laser printer, but they want $50 for the drivers and I am a cheap son of a gun. Yes, I know your pain. My printer cost me mega bucks and so does the 4 print toners and other disposable parts. You would think that they would update a "universal 32bit Printing environment program" to enable their merchandise to continue to work, but that is probably too much like work for the French.
