printing and scanning problems

I have an old Brother MFC-9325 CW that still works fine. I replaced my iMac with a new mac mini (M1 chip) and I had trouble with brother driver. I managed to get an older driver to work for printing, but I Cannot figure out how to scan documents to my computer.

I used to do the scanning from my system preferences, but this is no longer an option, apparently.

The iprint and iscan software doesn't recognize the printer, which is directly connected via usb.

Any advice would be appreciated.!
