I used CleanMyMac X to delete Xcode.
regret letting it delete "leftover files" which may be important.
later deleted CleanMyMac also.

After restart it is ok now. All the files appear on the desktop, even the ones that didn’t show earlier.

I deleted some special security shortcut on desktop which may be the cause,
but unfortunately I cannot sort by date deleted in Trash / recycle bin
to find this shortcut and restore it.
and importing pictures to Photos in Catalina becomes very slow like minutes when Mojave could do it in split second.
