Dual Display Not Working

I'm trying to connect my Mid 2013 13" Macbook Air (Mojave 10.14.5) and my Mid 2011 27" iMac (El Capitan 10.11.6) to get a dual screen setup. I recently ordered this Thunderbolt cable https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD861LL/A/apple-thunderbolt-cable-20-m?fnode=ac57f8d56a8a1df937d74db0aab44c7ed03214eb5021df1bc6183619f5b5128eff61a6eced7a52cb08001c0bb8d0c77c7e7ea499f3ebd6ffa9b2070711864c9eb7022bd815967df8c5aca50ae0ac1d201debd05f2b46ded740940634afd545bc thinking that it would pair them together, but I don't see any dual screen options appear under the display settings. Do I need a different cable or am I missing something else?
