how do i remove spotlight preferences from spotlight index? I'm all the time getting spotlight preferences as a result when I am trying to open spotify and it is very annoying.

The simplest fix is to uncheck System Preferences in the Spotlight Search Results panel. Then you can type "spot" in the Spotlight panel without invoking the Spotlight preferences on a return. After this change, a better search would be "spotify" to make it the first hit.

Do you use spotlight to open Spotify? Isn't it more easy to put the Spotify-icon on your dock?

I had seen this but I had thought that unchecking 'system preferences' would hide system preferences as a result but it only hides the subfolders, thus solving my problem. Thanks for posting.
