Hello jasen176,

Thanks for providing the additional information. I will be happy to continue checking this out with you.

This article will help you identify the ports on your computer and states: Connect to HDMI from your Mac - Apple Support

  • "Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 are not the same as Mini DisplayPort  (they have the same shape, but use different symbols on the cable and port). However, this port does support Mini DisplayPort for video output, so you can use a Mini DisplayPort cable to connect a Mini DisplayPort display."

Because of this, I believe you need this adaptor. Please verify the port on your computer matches the shape as the plug on the adaptor: Belkin 4K Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter - Apple

"Connect your MacBook to your HDTV using the Belkin Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter. Delivering both digital audio* and up to 4K video signals for easy data transfer, the adapter converts video to connect to any device enabled with HDMI technology."

"Compatibility

  • MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2012 - 2015)"

There are also two cable options that may help, depending on how far you are from the TV or monitor, and if you just need the adaptor or a cable with adaptor included:

Belkin 4K Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable (2 m/6.5 ft.) - Apple

Belkin 4K Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable (4 m/13 ft.) - Apple

Thanks and have a wonderful day.

Hello jasen176,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with connecting two displays to your MacBook Pro.

I believe you are asking about this model: MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) - Technical Specifications - Apple Support

This would support multiple displays: "Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 3840 by 2160 pixels on up to two external displays, both at millions of colors."

Use this article to help: Use multiple displays with your Mac - Apple Support

  • "If your Mac has one or more Thunderbolt ports , you can connect up to two displays to those ports. If the displays also have Thunderbolt ports, you can connect one display to another, and then connect one of the displays to a Thunderbolt port on your Mac. Or you can connect each display to different Thunderbolt ports on your Mac."

Thanks and have a wonderful day.

It’s a MacBook Pro early 2015. https://support.apple.com/kb/SP715

I plan to connect two external monitors through its two thunderbolt 2 ports. Not to be confused with thunderbolt 3 or commonly known as (USB C).

the monitors would have a HDMI input. I originally planned to use two of these cords running from both of my thunderbolt 2 ports into the HDMI inputs on the monitors.

here are the cords: AmazonBasics Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Display Adapter Cable - 6 Feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0134V3KIA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Ply7DbDYTR0NF

Would this work? I’m not tech savvy and not really sure what I’m doing haha. Thanks for the help

Yes that may work if you cannot run DisplayPort family displays, which are much superior to HDMI displays. HDMI was invented to run HD TV at 1920 by 1080p, and anything beyond that requires stretching it -- sometimes it works without issue.

The reason it works and still fits inside the rules I wrote above is that a Mini DisplayPort cable gets a subset of the ThunderBolt-2 signals when plugged into a Thunderbolt Display, and that does not count as "stacking" an adapter.

How do I connect two external displays to my early 2015 Macbook Pro using it's two Thunderbolt 2 Ports?
