I’m a family member on my daughters Apple Music account, she recently upgraded her phone and we have both lost our entire Apple Music libraries :( anyone know why that would be ?

If she cancelled the subscription, then yes, you will lose all music downloaded from the subscription service. You don't own that music, its tied to the subscription, you only have access to it while you are subscribed.

Why did she cancel the subscription?

Upgrading to a new iPhone does not require cancelling subscriptions.
