Apple Locked

I received an email that my Apple ID has been locked for security reasons.

is this legit


it is asking for my address and phone number and social security number

it is asking for my social security number. I do not give that out

iPhone 7, iOS 13

No, it is not legit. You did the right thing. Never give out that information in an email like that. They are just trying to steal your information.


Take a look at this.

Avoid phishing emails, fake 'virus' alerts, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support


Furthermore, you would see an alert, not receive an email from Apple.

If your Apple ID is locked or disabled - Apple Support
