Locked out of Ipad

Hi all I am stranded my daughter put a password on the iPad she uses and has now forgotten it. How can we access the iPad without loosing any data?

You will need to restore the iPad then reload your most recent backup. At this point you cannot access any data. Start here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204306
