If you have Office 2011, it won’t work on Catalina. It is still 32-bits and Catalina needs 64-bits apps

You have the following options:

• buy a new version of Office, eg Office 2019 or a subscription to Office 365
• download and install the free LibreOffice . You can easily open your Wordfiles and work in them
• see if the free Apple Pages suits your needs

Microsoft Office 2016 (updated), Office 2019, and Office 365 all work with Catalina. 32 bit apps do not work with Catalina.
