Add pop account?

Hi: I had a Gmail POP/SMTP account set up in Mail. Today messages I was trying to send were stuck in the outbox, and the account showed offline. (I was receiving mail fine.) In the course of troubleshooting, I managed to delete the account. Now I can't re-add it - it only seems to allow adding a Gmail account as IMAP. I really can't use IMAP - I've tried it and it doesn't work for me. I hope there's a way to add a POP account, and I'm just not seeing it.

I've tried restoring the account via Time Machine, but Time Machine crashes Mail. Time Machine seems to work fine for other files. (I grabbed INBOX.mbox, which is the only folder I need to restore.)

Thanks!

Thanks, Barney-15E! It didn't work exactly that way, because it doesn't allow you to change the email address (username) on an account. So I tried with just a bogus password. After getting the expected "unable to verify account name or password" error, changed the Account Type from IMAP to POP, and the Incoming Mail Server from imap.gmail.com to pop.gmail.com, corrected the password, and then it worked.
