No A4b size when primnting mac mail message

When I try to print a message that I received in Mac Mail, the Print window lists all sort of paper sizes, but lately (after I forgot which update: I'm presently running Mojave 10.14.6 on a 2019 MacBook Pro 13'') I no longer have the choice of selecting A4: I can have US Letter, A5, etc etc, but no longer A4. I worked around the problem by creating a custom size, but there should be another way of bringing back the A4 size among standard paper size choices! I should add that this problem only happens when printing from Mail: no problem when printing from Word, Acrobat, Preview etc etc.

As I mentioned in my original message, I have in the meantime created a custom A4 size. Bizarrely enough, after I did that the A4 size showed up again in the print window. To be on the safe side, I followed your suggestion and did a safe mode restart (the A4 format was there) and then reverted to the normal log in, and the A4 is also now available in the print window. I plan anyway to update to Catalina as soon as 10.15.3 becomes available. Thanks for your help!
