will not let me updates pages.. everytime i try it loads and loads and loads until i eventually die

Unless you currently have macOS Mojave10.14, or Catalina 10.15 installed, you do not meet the requirements to install the current (Pages v8.2.1, Numbers v6.2.1, or Keynote v9.2.1) applications from the Mac App Store. If you are still on Yosemite 10.10 as your profile suggests, then there is no Pages update available to you without satisfying the first sentence.
