Ad Lumen,
Depends what you mean by "family account."
If you are part of Family Sharing, the music is associated to your Apple ID and will still be yours if you leave the group.
If you mean you and others have all been buying music on a single Apple ID, then no.

I am part of a family sharing account. The account is not using my Apple ID. I wish to separate from the account, start my own account using my Apple ID and take my music with me to the new account. Just wanted to know if this is possible.
Thank you for your help!

Ad Lumen,
In the iTunes Store, purchased content is permanently tied to the Apple ID from which it was originally purchased. If you have been sharing an Apple ID but are now starting your own, you might consider maintaining a Family Sharing arrangement with your former group.
