Can no longer print from my macbook pro 2019

Until yesterday I was able to print from my mac book pro 2019 to my HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 printer. Now it says "the selected printer is not available or installed correctly" downloaded the update on my mac. still same message. When I go to system preferences/printers&scanners it doesn't have my printer as an option in the default.

Also, when I looked up which HP printers have airprint, mine was not on the list. I don't know how I got it to work the last couple of months, but now it isn't working. The other computers in the house are printing (PCs though) and my mac's wi-fi is fine.

I don't know a lot about computers - please help!!!

I will try to help you, KCmom61.

If you go to system preferences, under the large Apple icon at the top left of your screen, then go to Printers, where you see the choice of printers, If you hold down the Option key and click on the (-) minus sign, you should see "reset the printing system". Do so. You may also wish to check for an update for the printer's software

you can go here for that : it's a link

that printer should have AirPrint, at least HP says it does, and who am I to argue with them ???

here's how to change your connection from usb (wired) to wireless and do AirPrint printing

It also mentions an HP utility, which might have been included in the All-in-One software package you have to download anyways, for printing, scanning and all that.... might have been called HP easy start..... See if running the HP utility does anything.

You might also want to try doing a reset smc/pmu and zap pram on your Mac book Pro 2019. It's an easy procedure and it's free.

you can find out how to do that by going to Apple's support page for your MacBook Pro 2019 (it's under "Notebooks") or seeing as how you know the rough model number, you could Google, Yahoo , or even Bing it and it should get you that info fast.

You might also want to do a hard reset of the printer itself.... Just disconnect the power cord on the printer, wait about a minute, then plug the power cord back in, and press the power button to turn it on. For Airprint, you have to make sure that the Printer is on the same wireless network as your MacBook Pro, which means.....going to the menu on the printer, turning on the Wifi on it, and then typing in , character by character, your Wifi Network name, then clicking on "OK" and then typing in the Wifi Network password, character by character...... Yes, I know, it's a royal pain, i've done it a few times..... hopefully you only have to do it once or twice in a long time.....

anways, hope this helps you
