How to stop emails being synchronised across all devices

When I delete an email on my MacBook it deletes the email on all my other devices. How can I stop this happening?

Also when I read an email on one of my devices the email shows as being read on all my other devices. How do I change this?

Has anyone got any suggestions?

Kind regards

You can move email to a location located on your device. This will prevent the email from being synchroized.

Why do you want to do this? It is counter to how most people use email and why the email IMAP protocol was developed. Email users typically do not want copies of emails located on multiple devices having different statuses. Your approach will introduce confusion when trying to organize your email and knowing which have been read, responded to, deleted, archived.
