iMac shuts down about ten minutes after waking up from sleep

I have noticed since the update to 10.15.3 that my iMac now will randomly shut down about ten minutes (give or take) after waking up from sleep. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there an easy fix for the issue? I don't necessarily want to reset my SMC just yet, but if that is the answer, I will of course do so. Thanks in advance for any help!

Do the following as needed:

1 - log into another user account and see if the problem persists there. (This tells us if the problem is limited to your user account or is system wide). If it still persists boot into Safe Mode (Use Safe Mode to isoloate issues with your Mac and Playing Safe: what does Safe Mode do?) and test there. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.

2 - Reset the SMC

3 - Reset NVRAM

Hello, everyone, and thanks so much for the prompt replies! (Indeed, I apologize that I am only responding today.)

It's funny, BDAqua: I actually dusted my iMac about a week ago, and that's also around when this issue started! I would prefer not to run EtreCheck, but I do use smcFanControl, and it generally reports that my CPU operates at around 126°F and at approximately 1200rpm for the fan speed. Is MacFansControl that much better? It is also, curiously enough, funny that right after the update, my fan actually got audibly louder, so much so that my wife noticed it!

Besides checking for any further responses, I am going to wait to see if the problem occurs again today -- I'm in the middle of a Time Machine backup now -- and then I will try resetting the SMC and the NVRAM too.

Again, everyone, thanks kindly! I will report back presently, LOL.
