can I add a card online instead of in the wallet?

I’m having issues verifying my card on Apple Pay. I can’t access the phone number used for verification, there isn’t enough information to verify me over the phone, and my bank can’t call for me to verify my account because they can’t give my information to another party. I’ve made sure that the incorrect phone number is removed EVERYWHERE but it still won’t use my new number to verify. My bank suggested I try to set it up online instead of through the app, but I’m not sure that’s possible. Help!

Did you already go here - Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication - Apple Support

and here - Apple Pay Customers

Start with step 6 then go through the steps in order

  • If you have trouble adding a card to wallet;
  1. Check your Apple ID region to make sure it is correct (Change your Apple ID country or region - Apple Support)
  2. Check the region on your device to ensure it is correct (Settings>general>language & region - set to your region)
  3. A passcode is required to use the Wallet app.
  4. You need to be in a region that supports Apple Pay - Countries and regions that support Apple Pay - Apple Support
  5. Your bank needs to support Apple Pay - Apple Pay participating banks - Apple Support
  6. Sometimes if you sign out of your Apple ID and back in it resolves the problem.
  7. If none of these suggestions are able to resolve your issue you can go here for further assistance - If you can't add cards to Wallet for Apple Pay - Apple Support

Yes, it is the correct phone number in Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay > Phone. Also, on my bank account I made sure that the only number available is the correct phone number. Literally anywhere I could put a phone number I put the correct one. As far as Wallet or my bank account is concerned the only number that should show up is the correct one.

What more information would be helpful? Anything I can do to help!

I’ve verified that my bank does support Apple Pay.

The issue is the phone number that is being used to verify is no longer available to use for verification as I can’t receive a call or text on it.

I tried the alternate form of verification by calling the support number provided in Wallet but after going through the process several times, there just isn’t enough public information on me to verify my account. I was then told to ask my bank to call the support number to verify for me.

I called the bank and was told that’s not possible since they can’t give my bank information out over the phone. That’s when the technician I was talking to suggested trying to set it up on a computer online instead of through the app. But apparently that’s not possible.

So now I’m stuck unable to verify a debit card on Apple Pay.

Yes, I’ve looked through that already. I can get into my Apple ID just fine, and I use two-factor verification.

Before starting this discussion I’d read through the article you sent regarding Apple Pay and just about everything else I could find. It doesn’t really address my problem. I can add the card to the wallet just fine, it’s verifying it that’s the problem.
