Trying to make first iMovie on new MacBook Pro. Can see all my photos and videos in Photos, but they are not appearing in iMovie, although weirdly a random selection are. How can I get them all to appear in iMovie please?

If you are using iCloud optimized storage that might account for some of your photos not appearing. If so, turn off Optimized Storage.
