Deleted photos from "Recently Deleted" in Photos on MacBook Air

I have been trying to organize my photos properly into albums and folders. I kept having some glitchy issues and sometimes the app quit unexpectedly, so I repaired the photos library. All was good but now when I go to the Recently Deleted folder to delete photos there (trying to free up some much needed disk space), the photos will not delete. I select them and hold down Command-Delete and nothing happens. Also, when I go back to my albums, I can't get photos to delete there either. I was able to delete photos prior to repairing the library. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for your reply and suggestion. Yes, I was attempting to delete the recently deleted in that manner but it didn't work. Nothing worked. Since I was really wanting to keep going with my project or organizing my photos, I decided to do another repair on the library. So far since I did that, I have been able to delete photos both in the folders as well as recently deleted. My question is why is my library file corrupting? Is there something you could recommend to avoid this from happening again?
