I am trying to do a voice over of my movie but when I record the sound doesn't get recorded. I have it set to the built in mic and check my sound preferences for my Mac and they are both set to the built in mic. How do I get it to record what I am saying?

It's a system preferences issue that fortunately is easily corrected. Go to System Preferences/Security and Privacy/Privacy/Microphone and put iMovie in the box so it has access to your microphone.
