Home screen gray shaded area

Home screen has a gray shaded area on bottom. I can remove it

That is called the “dock”. Apps that you put in that area won’t change as you switch between home screen pages. You cannot remove it, but you can put your most frequently used apps in it, such as Mail an Safari.
