I recently did a clean install of High Sierra to an SSD and migrated my settings etc from the previous Sierra.
Since then every time I trash an email I get:
If I hit OK or return the email is trashed but not recoverable and not in Mail's trash folder.
What are they set to?

Thank you. I have quite a number of email accounts and they seem to have been set by Migration Assistant to no Trash selected at all.
I'm trying to fix this now, many have lost their passwords as well so am having to recover them.
