Delete Photos from my XR

Hi,

I'm totally confused on how to properly delete photos from my iPhone. Yes, iCloud photo storage is turned on. The internet blather is awful with miss information and is telling me that if I delete photos on my phone, they are deleted from iCloud as well. What do I do to clear off photos from my iPhone and not lose them in the cloud. I am using iTunes on a PC and I sorely miss my old macbook.

Thanks

Very Grateful

iCloud is a syncing service, not an archiving service. So if you delete photos from your phone it will sync to iCloud and also delete them from iCloud and from all other devices logged in to the same iCloud account. So you can’t delete them from your phone yet keep them in iCloud. One option is to sync them to an archiving service, such as Google Photos, Amazon Photos or Shutterfly.
