Installing macOS Sierra but no disk available

I have completely reset my MacBook Air and I’m trying to download MacOS Sierra


the screen currently displayed says

”select the disk where you want to install macOS” - but no disk shows up


anyone have any suggestions? Thank you

You need to go back a couple of stages.

If you can get back to the Utilities window that you see when you first boot to your

Recovery HD, select Disk Utility press Continue.

select the Disk at the top of the left hand panel, click on Erase.

Give the Disk a name,

format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

Scheme: GUID Partition Map

press Erase.

Your disk will now be reformatted.


Quit Disk Utility and then try installing the OS.
