I received a popup message on my iPhone 8 from Apple Security telling me (3) viruses have been detected and the battery has been infected and damaged. Is this a legitimate message?

It is a scam. Close the offending page, and avoid sites that are involved in such bogus advertising tactics.

How can I get rid of the fake security alerts? I turned on the airplane mode, tapped safari, and cleared the history and website data. When I turned airplane mode back on the alert reappeared.
