Turn on character count on iMac 27"?

Is it possible to turn on character count on my iMac 27"? I have it OK on my iPhone 6S but cant find a way to enable it on my iMac. Have a similar problem on my iPad.

Hey there!

Character count on macOS is not available for the Messages application.

There may be some third-party software or Automations which you can find online which may do this for you. You could even copy and paste your messages into Pages or any other word processing application to count the characters before you send a message.
