mail.app

The mail.app does not fetch new messages, no matter how I set the “Check for new messages” in the application preferences. The only way to get messages is by quitting and restarting the app. I have three mail account (Gmail, iCloud, Exchange) and the problem is the same for all of them. Other mail apps, like Airmail work fine, but I prefer to use the Apple Mail. What's the solution? thanks.

Use Connection Doctor in Mail on Mac

If you can’t receive emails in Mail on Mac

https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mail/mlhlp1138/12.0/mac/10.14

If you can’t send emails in Mail on Mac

https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mail/mlhlp1129/12.0/mac/10.14


If you have tried all the above steps in link and still not able to get new email. Please make sure you have backup of your important mails.

  1. Try to Rebuild Mailbox -> https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mail/mlhlp1227/12.0/mac/10.14 (Note: It may take time depending on your mailboxes size)
  2. If Rebuild didn't fix your issue. Delete the accounts and add back, which would be similar to above step but with start from inputing email address and authenticating.
