Everytime I try to do anything with Apple music it steals all my songs in my Library and it wants me to join apple music for $9.99 a month to get them back. Does anyone else have this problem?

Had this problem yesterday. Cancelled my Apple Music membership because due to my sprint phone plan I now get amazon prime for free including amazon music. Got home yesterday and all my iTunes purchased music gone even though it was still on my phone and all my iTunes playlists gone . I resumed Apple Music membership and voila all is back. How can I separate the two so this doesn’t happen again?

Music that you download through Apple Music is not yours; it is Apple’s and you are renting it. If you stop paying rent you lose access to it. However, music that you actually purchased from iTunes and paid for is yours to listen to forever. You can either sync it from your computer or just download it again. For music from other sources such as ripped CDs or MP3s that you downloaded on your computer to iTunes you can restore them by syncing your phone to your computer.
