After many years of use approximately 25% of my Contacts (prior total 120) disappeared. Scattered across all listings, no commonality. Started to reenter one "John Smith" and when I got to the "John Sm..." the full card reappeared with all of the previous fields appearing. Couldn't get it to do that again.
Imported backed up (Fle/Export) copy by prior date but can't open previous known File.

Tadaaa! - checked my iCloud backup and turned on whatever had not been. Immediately phone, pad and computer have synced via the cloud and all ~400 contacts are restored. Thanks for your comments folks.

Wow 120 only. So you were able to trace it. I have more than 3000 so I don’t know. But I have a feeling they disappear. I have no idea of the reason. When I’m trying to add contacts I start typing details and other contact opens. I’ve failed to understand this reason.
on reading I just realized where do you sync your contacts iCloud, google, yahoo, hotmail, etc. you can set a service as default. So when contracts are added they get synced to it. Also which is your main email service? Syncing contacts there would be best so you can use it from browser.

Belatedly I just looked and all contacts - up to 396 are intact on Pad and phone so I am syncing but still don’t get more than the ~100 mentioned. Comments on syncin they address book are welcomed.
