My son forgot his passcode. I can use his Apple ID to connect with computer but I’m Not able to get my iPad Pro to reset to factory settings

Put it in dfu mode or recovery mode and that should do the trick, or you can use Wondershare Drfone software and I know that will do it.
I have an iPad Pro. It’s about 5-7 years old??? My son forgot his passcode. I can’t reset it using my computer with restore or update. Please help
