How to completely uninstall Zoom.us app from my Mac.

Hello

I tried the solution posted to this question by Diortho in April 2020. But there is no window of the Zoom. On clicking the Zoom.us icon in the application, it creates an icon in the task bar and opens the dialogue box for joining the meeting. The task bar icon too does not have any useful options for un-installing. If we open the contents of the zoom app in the finder, there too no file is displayed for installing.

If I just un-install it by sending it to the trash from application, i find many files still there in my system. I am also apprehensive that incomplete removal of the app may either leave a bug in my system or there may be problems of re-boot if I shut down my machine. I had faced a similar kind of problem when I had un-installed team viewer by just sending the app to trash from the finder. In that event my machine could not be powered on.

Can any one have the solution.

Thanks

We seem to be talking past each other. When you launch the Zoom app click the zoom.us drop down menu at the very top of the Finder, next to the About This Mac. You will see the usual About Zoom, Preferences, Check for Updates, etc. The fifth selection down is 'Uninstall Zoom'. Are you telling us you do not see that option? Have you looked there for the option?

You're absolutely correct, which is the reason it's not a good idea to follow instructions posted by others. They are likely to be outdated at best, incorrect or damaging at worst, and are just as likely to cause problems of their own—as you experienced with "Teamviewer".

Contact its developer for support: Contact a third-party vendor - Apple Support. The "Zoom" product was significantly updated at the end of last month. Any instructions prior to that update are no longer operative.

Just to be clear, you followed these instructions: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362983-How-to-uninstall-Zoom?

Those instructions appear to be reasonable. I realize you followed someone else's instructions posted in April, but I'm at a disadvantage because I don't know what they were. Your description of them doesn't make sense to me because Zoom doesn't make any mention of an icon or a task bar or joining a meeting or anything else in its uninstallation instructions, which amount to simply launching the app and then selecting Uninstall Zoom from its menu.

By the way I searched this site to find the instructions you alluded to, and came up with this Discussion: How to completely uninstall zoom apps on my Mac. The Community Specialist who replied provided the same instructions I just did. So, more information is required regarding the problems you're experiencing.

Hi John, thanks for your message. However, herein I am in a dilemma. The solution posted by Zoom at their site is exactly what had been posted by Diortho. And that is not helpful at all. It's a fix. The Zoom site is not providing the correct solution. Hence I have turned to the community in the hope that I may get a better genuine solution.

Thanks
