airpods flasing red in case and not connecting

my airpods case is flashing red and when i take the airpods out it still flashes red and the will not connect to my phone or show up at all

what do i do i tried hard reset already

Is it really flashing red? Or is it flashing orange/amber because I have never heard of the case being able to flash red.
