I had set the language on my phone to German to complete a puzzle, and now even though I have set it back to English and removed German from the language list the search function built into settings is stuck in German.

Verify that Settings > Siri & Search shows the correct language. Change Siri voice or language
Siri & Search could be using its search history for the results. Clear the Siri history to see if that helps. How to delete your Siri history
Restart your iPhone and test again.
If search results are still in the incorrect language, try clearing the history from Safari. Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
