2 days ago before update- I could easily take a screenshot using a simple button I had customized in my control center. After the update that button was no longer available. I don’t want screen recording. Just a thumb operated screenshot.

You may be confusing Screen Shot with Screen Recording.

To take a screen shot you need push the side button + the volume up button together.

To see the screen recording button in the control center:

Open Settings ➔ Control Center ➔ Customize Controls ➔ Scroll down to MORE CONTROLS and add Screen Recording using the green + sign.
