You will get Apple TV+ free for one year if you have purchased a new Mac. You will be able to claim this in settings. After the one year period, you will be billed normally for Apple TV+ unless you choose to cancel your subscription.

No, Apple TV is NOT free. Apple TV+, which is Apple's streaming service of original content is offered free for one year. With your one year free subscription you will be able to watch Apple TV+ original content. You CANNOT watch anything you find on the Apple TV app for free, ONLY Apple TV+ content. Make sure you understand that.
