Mac mini late 2014 4k display problem ervey things very small with ASUS VG289Q 4K Monitor.
Mac mini late 2014 should work with 4k display, but i didn't find any option to adjust the menu/Text display size.
The mac mini display is in 384x2160 with HDMI v2.1 or thunderbolt but everything is very small

To make everything slightly larger, you will need to select a slightly lower resolution. To do that go to Apple > System Preferences > Displays > hold the Option (Alt) key and select the Scaled button.

IMHO while large hi-res displays are great for games, movies and detailed editing, they boarder on being too large to be used as normal desktop work station. Basically because you have to move back for games or movies and then move in real close for desktop work.
Personally I have several Mac Mini setups for different purposes.
The ones we use as desktops, have dual 21.5" or a single 24" display.
The one we use as a media server, is connected to a large screen display.
Lastly if you are now looking for a fast and easy way to switch back and forth so you can use that display for both, then perhaps you will find Display Menu useful.
