Pencil creating odd lines when writing

Hi, i have an iPad pro with apple pencil and use it all the time with OneNote and Notes. i always use the apple pencil but this week, when writing lines keep appearing over the page and dots seem to be in odd places on the page. i have testing with OneNote and Notes, both give me the same result.

i have powered off and on, closed apps and reopened and even uninstalled and reinstalled.. but still have these unwanted lines.. any suggestions?
