followup question to attachment too small to read on Mail

The answer given above works; however this is not true in the documentation:

"By default, Mail inserts images at their actual size. If different sizes are available, you can choose one from the pop-up menu located on the right side of the message header."

The default on my fairly new MacBook Pro is to insert images at Small size.

I could not find an option in Mail Preferences to change this.

How do I change the default to Actual Size?

Thank you.

As a test add a known large image file, and select "Actual size" and email it to yourself.

See if this triggers and carries over to the next image you add, as the default setting "Actual size."

Aha!

So it just defaults to the last setting used. Not exactly what Apple's documentation says, but works good enough for me and accomplishes the same thing.

Thank you, closing this issue.

Good computing jefreiki — glad to here this solved your problem.

Yes it establishes the default size, and working as intended.

Thank you, Eau Rouge.

I do know this, and was happy to find it out yesterday in a different thread. Apparently my post here didn't attach to that thread the way I thought it would.

My question was, how to change the default, so the image would appear actual size without having to remember to select that option in every email?

The Apple documentation says the default is Actual Size. That is not true; the default is Small Size, at least on my MacBook Pro with Mojave. I could not find any option to change the default -- so I am guessing I have to change it every time, which is doable, but not what the documentation says. I would like to change the default to Actual Size, if there is a way to do it as the documentation asserts there is.

Thank you.
