Audio Lag in iMovie while syncing with GarageBand audio

I've been trying for months now to record videos (on my iPhone X) while at the SAME TIME recording audio (with a USB condenser mic onto my brand new iMac Pro into GarageBand). And then I put it all into iMovie to edit and the same thing happens time after time after time...AUDIO LAG!

I've tried converting my videos shot in 4k and 1080 at all of the available frame rates (24, 30 and 60fps) to constant frame rates in hand break. It still lags. I've tried converting the GarageBand files into .aif and .mP4 and .wav files and still by the end of a 3 minute song I'm trying to capture...it's lagging big time.

What can I do? Please help me, oh you professional editors of the world.

Much Love,

Eric

:) I am not a professional video editor, but just an iMovie user like yourself.

Often there are sync problems when video is recorded on a different device than the audio.

If the audio is lagging behind, you may be able to speed it up a tad, or slow down the video, so that the tracks sync up.

Try this: Use the slider above the timeline to the right to expand out the timeline. Then control-click on the audio clip and, from the drop down menu that appears, select Show Speed Editor. That will cause a speed adjustment handle to appear in the upper right hand corner of the clip. Put your cursor on it and press drag to the left to speed up the clip or to the right to slow down the clip. See if you can get the audio clip in sync with the video. You can also do the procedure on the video clip to speed it up and slow it down.

You can also slide the audio clip with your cursor to try to align it up with the video.

Changing the sample rate of the audio clip is another possibility. 44hz is slower than 48hz. You would probably need an audio editing app to do that
