yellow light blinking. no internet connection. reset time capsule , tried new ethernet, still blinking

constant yellow blinking on time capsule. Airport utility shows amber internet disconnected but everything is plugged in.. no updates needed. WiFi server called and no problem. The communication between them and my router is not working. They said I might need new Ethernet cable. I’ve also reset time capsule and nothing. Using 10.15.5 iOS. Anyone????

If you reset the Time Capsule, then it needs to be reconfigured again. Did you do this and the amber light continues to blink, or did you not set up the Time Capsule again?

In addition to a new Ethernet cable, did you try a different LAN <--> Ethernet port on the WiFi modem/router and a different Ethernet port on the Time Capsule?

Thanks Bob. I had to order new Ethernet cables..will find out when I get them tomorrow. Hopefully that will remedy it. I can’t reconfigure capsule .. My computer doesn’t even see it. We had severe lightening Last night when this happened. I unplugged my Mac and everything else is plugged into a good surge protector but ... my time capsule just may be fried. I’ll see when I get the Ethernet cables.

Possible. If the WAN "O" port was damaged....which can happen.... the other ports might still be OK and one of them could possibly be used to connect the Time Capsule, depending on the type of modem that you have.

Assuming that the Time Capsule was not damaged, when you reset the Time Capsule, it will not appear in AirPort Utility until you have gone through the setup process again. Not sure if you were clear on this and/or whether you were not sure how to set up the Time Capsule. When the new Ethernet cable arrives, post back if you need more help on this.

You should be able to access the TC by wireless.. which often survives high voltage spikes since it is not physically connected to anything. A severe lighting storm nearby with a strike that causes lights to blink, power to go out, breakers open etc can already cause damage to circuits.. although if your modem router still survives the TC should as well. I doubt a new cable will do anything.

Are you getting internet via the main router when you have a computer connected to it by ethernet?
