Problems using the Thunderbolt adapter 3 (USB-C)

Actually I have a MacBook Air 2018 and iMac 2017. I had problems using the thunderbolt adapter 3 (usb-C) to thunderbolt 2. I don't know which cable will use to connect this devices? I purchases two cables but not working in this devices.

You need a TB3 cable that connects from the MBA to the TB3 end of the adapter. The TB2 end connects to your iMac.
