The chip components of the Boot drive are soldered to the board, and run by the T2 chip. They are not changeable except when building a new MacBook Pro.


Once your MacBook Pro is built, the only way to increase the size of the boot drive is by selling your Mac and buying one that better meets your needs.


You can add an external drive for less frequently used files. If you also need those files to be portable, a drive like this one could be used:


approx actual size, and 1/4 in thick.
