YouTube Videos will not play after MacOS Catalina 10.15.6 upgrade

After upgrading to MacOS 10.15.6 earlier this week, I have not been able to play YouTube videos. I just get an error message that says to try again later.

Is there a quick fix for this (besides using a browser other than Safari)?

Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks for the help.

Yes, that looks like the same error window.

I'm now trying random YouTube videos and I'd say 1 out of 3 or 4 ARE playing in Safari, but that's still a problem.

Also, I don't have a Google account, so I never sign-in to YouTube.

I have just tried your suggestion to go into YouTube via "Private Browsing" mode in Safari, and NOW all the videos that I'm clicking on seem to work! (That's weird!)

Thanks for the tip. (But Apple needs to look into this, and I've sent them a note on their "feedback" page.)

So here's what's happened since I posted this question.

Since I am using the AdBlock Engine extension in Safari. I tried disabling it, quitting Safari, and then relaunching Safari, it seemed to work and I no longer saw the error message when playing YouTube videos.

However, I was now finding annoying ads popping up in YouTube and other web sites. So I turned AdBlock Engine back on.

Someone mentioned that Google (YouTube's owner) is trying new methods of forcing viewers to see ads whenever they try to open a YouTube video, in the hopes of defeating ad blockers. Interestingly, today I was able to watch half a dozen YouTube videos with no problems. And when I just checked to see if my Ad Block Engine was still running, to my surprise, it IS still running.

So I'm not sure WHAT happened, but my problem seems to have resolved itself.

Thanks to those of you who offered me solutions.
